Asian Festival in Philadelphia (June 16, 2007)
On June 16 of 2007, Dangdut in America finalists John JLS and Chris Valkyria performed at the third Asian Festival held at Penns' Landing in Philadelphia. This festival is an annual event that is part of the Peco Multicultural series that takes place annually in greater Phiadelphia area. This year's festival was special for Indonesian community in Philadelphia because it was the first time that Indonesia was featured in the festival. John and Chris sang Dangdut songs Sahara and Kucing Garam in Indonesian and they were accompanied by a musical band called PALAPA, composed of Indonesian musicians from Washington DC. Their performance was the 1st ever American Dangdut performance that was held in an outdoor venue in the United States.
